Mr Douglas Clark
Member of the Special Committee on Intellectual Property, Hong Kong Bar Association

Douglas Clark is a barrister practicing in Hong Kong. His main areas of practice is intellectual property, in particular, patents, trademarks and unfair competition and copyright law in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Prior to becoming a barrister in 2011, Doug practiced as a solicitor. He was based in Shanghai as managing partner of, international law firm’s Hogan Lovells' Shanghai office; head of the firm's Mainland China Intellectual Property practice and co-head of the worldwide patent practice.

Doug has handled thousands of intellectual property cases in China, Hong Kong and in Asia. His non-contentious experience includes advising on technology transfer and conducting patent and other intellectual property audits as well as freedom to operate analyses.

He is World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) and Asia Domain Name Dispute Resolution Centre (ADNDRC) domain name panelist and a member of WIPO's Legal Rights Objection (LRO) Panel.

He was previously co-chair of the European Chamber of Commerce IPR Working Group in China and is a member of the Asian Patent Attorney's Association (APAA).

Doug is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.
