The FSDC was established by the HKSAR Government in January 2013 in response to the financial services industry’s call for a high-level government advisory body to support the sustained development of the industry. The FSDC engages the industry and formulates proposals to promote the further development of Hong Kong’s financial services industry and map out the strategic direction for the development of Hong Kong as an international financial centre. It acts as a focal point of views and melting pot of ideas, champion and ambassador of the industry, and a capacity builder.

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Singapore is the representative office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government in the ASEAN region covering Singapore, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
Set up in 1995, the office seeks to promote Hong Kong’s economic and trade interests in the region by enhancing understanding of the HKSAR among decision-makers and opinion-formers; monitoring developments that might affect Hong Kong; and liaising with the government and business sectors in individual ASEAN countries. The office also seeks to attract investment into Hong Kong through publicising the city’s unique business advantages under the Mainland-Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) and the values that Hong Kong offers, including its roles as an international financial centre, a logistics and service hub, and an ideal business platform for ASEAN companies doing business with the Mainland of China. The office also promotes cultural exchanges between Hong Kong and ASEAN countries.
